Welcome to my “soapbox” and thank you for being here. I should warn you before you proceed that as the blog progresses and as you look around on here, you may get confused. Scanning the various articles, rants and posts you may at times think that you’ve accidentally clicked an external link and are suddenly in another, unrelated blog site. But have no doubt, these rants and reflections stem from the same mind. My interests are wide and varied and don’t fit neatly into one box or subject (hence the need to create my own virtual soapbox). This will be reflected in the writing here. While the topics may vary, a common theme in the posts is that they are written from a critical (of the status quo, the global establishment, modern society, etc.) perspective.
As a social critic I’m interested in the big picture, but in a way that also looks at the individual parts and how these parts are connected. For this reason, I may write about all of the following at one point or another: politics, philosophy, culture, society, consumerism, geo-politics, economics, political economy, metaphysics, the media, education, and more. Posts here will not always be super-serious. Just because the modern world is corrupt and broken, doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun (and hopefully be a bit amusing) calling it out!
ABOUT AUTHOR: I’m an independent socio-political critic, writer and performance poet. My articles have been published in independent media and academically. I hold a BA, MA and PhD in three different but related fields. Beyond the scholastic “serious stuff,” critically conscious artistic expression through performance poetry (that seeks to inform and inspire) is my main passion.
